Karitane Karitane has cared for mothers and
babies since 1923 when Sir Truby King founded the
Society. Its aim is to promote health and provide
quality care and guidance to families so that children
can thrive.
Karitane provides support, guidance
and information to families experiencing parenting
difficulties, to health professionals and to the
community.
Karitane programmes encourage a
self care model which is flexible and responsive
to the clients needs.
The Karitane Care Line is a statewide
24 hour Telephone Information Service. Child and
Family Health Nurses are available for consultation
on a wide range of issues concerning infants and
children from birth to five (5) years of age.
