For
a lot of parents, possibly the most harrowing time of their
teenagers life is when they get their licence or begin
to travel in cars with friends. Recently the news has been
filled with stories of young lives lost due to factors
including speed, inexperience and alcohol and drugs.
Is there a way to adequately
prepare your child for the road?
By setting guidelines and
ensuring they are adhered to you may be able to reduce
the risk your teen is exposed to when they are travelling.
It is important to stress
to teenagers that they need to take responsibility for
their own and other peoples safety when they are on the
road even as a passenger.
They need to be mindful of whether a driver
has been drinking and or taking drugs. They need to be
confident enough to speak up if the driver is speeding
or driving recklessly. Obviously seat belts should be worn
at all times. |
